I started out with WCW Nitro 14. First thing I've noticed is that commentary is kind of confusing. Like for a fan like me who had no idea what was going on entering the show, they didn't do a great job of filling you in. Harlem Heat seems pretty cool, and Booker T looks fantastic in his prime. Sherri is a great manager, she's extremely pa**ionate about her team and it's cool to watch. It was weird for me not to see Sharmell accompanying Booker T, but then I realized Booker married her in 2005. Sting is an interesting character, I've never seen anything of him other than some TNA stuff. I like his moveset, though a little repetitive. Lex Luger is huge as sh**. Dude is SWOLE. He's also sloppy as sh** in the ring. There are a lot of guys who looked like interesting characters that apparently didn't stick around, like the guy that breaks arms, Kurasawa. The main event for Nitro 14 was Lex Luger vs Randy Savage for the World Heavyweight Championship. Savage looks awesome as always, super pa**ionate and really sells everything. Luger sells pretty well too. Savage really looks like a guy that will give anything to keep his championship. Savage comes out on top and retains. Nitro 15 had some good cruiserweight action with Eddie Guerrero. There were two skippable matches out of four. Brian Pillman is f**ing nonsensical in his promos, but the Four Horseman seems like a cool heel tag team. In the main event, there was a lot of action. As usual for wrestling from this era, a lot of stuff was sloppy, but it was mostly well done. Hogan and Sting sell their apprehension to work together well. I don't really understand what the Four Horseman's goal is though. What interest do they have in things? Why is Luger helping the Four Horseman? There's an intersting dynamic between Sting and Luger though, Sting not knowing if he can stay friends with Luger, and having their match against each other at Starcade looming. Nitro 16 Eddie starts the show again, against Ric Flair. No real explanation as to why they're facing each other but I won't complain because they aren't near as sloppy as most. Eddie is actually fantastic, as if I didn't know that already. His moves are incredibly snappy and crisp. They both sell well. Ric Flair capitalizes on a knee injury and makes Eddie pa** out. Flair and his enforcer cut a short promo and get interrupted by some douche in yellow. The Dungeon of Doom seems really stupid. Douche in yellow is angry at Brian Pillman, a Four Horseman member. Arn Anderson tells him to eat sh**. Lex Lugar wins a skippable squash match, Sting also wins a skippable squash match. I guess they just needed the big guys to be on the card in some capacity. Randy Savage and The Giant (The Big Show) face off for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Seeing The Giant early in his career is cool, because the allure of him being "huge" is still fresh to everyone. Randy Savage is charismatic as ever. The Douche in Yellow is back for whatever reason. He looks so corny. Right when Savage gets chokeslammed and leg-dropped, Hulk Hogan runs out and hits everyone with a chair to save his buddy. Honestly how is Hulk Hogan a good guy when he's getting involved in a clean match and making it a disqualification? And then when the Giant comes back to get his revenge he hits him again with a chair? Hogan reveals it was all to get a title shot though so I suppose it makes sense. I've got to mention that the way they're booking these title matches is really confusing and not good. They've got a triangle match at Starcade between Sting, Luger, and Flair to determine the #1 contender, but they have tons of matches involving the members in that match for the title. Meaning if one of the people booked in the triangle match ends up winning the title, they're swapped out. It just makes it feel less significant to be involved in the match. With these title defenses every week, the belt seems less important, and the way they're booking Starcade just confuses people. Nitro 17 is very similar to the previous episode. Two skippable matches featuring Sting and Luger squashing their respective opponents. The cruiserweight match was good, with Dean Malenko defeating Mr JL. There were some cool spots, very quick action. Dean Malenko has a cool a** finisher. Ric Flair challenges Randy Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Like I said earlier, these title matches don't really feel special.
