New York city plays a very important role in African American Literature. Harlem Renaissance forms the basis of their Literature. Based in the African-American community of Harlem in New York City, it hand a really positive impact on the African community. Numerous Black artists, musicians and others produced cla**ic works in fields from jazz to theater; the renaissance is best known for the literature that came out of it.Among the most renowned writers of the renaissance is poet Langston Hughes.The theme of thriving to achieve a better life was developed during this period and is being still used by many singers. Keywords- Fight-African americans had also fight for living.First in the civil war and then after civil war to live a good life.They had to fight,struggle to get out of their bad living conditions.It was really difficult to live in new york. In JAY Z empire state of mind he sings-"yeah, I'm out that Brooklyn, now I'm down in Tribeca Right next to DeNiro. " He struggled fought with his conditions and situations to become successful and live his dreams. Geography- All african americans in New York were curbed to small and not so developed places of new York because it had a small area. They spend their lives on the street of those areas and due to injustice based of color they didn't used to get enough chances, resources to succeed and expand. Many singers sang about the areas they have come up from. They describe what goes on their what happens on the streets in their song.“South Bronx”—Boogie Down Productions is one such type of song. Bad living environment-The areas where they were confined to were undeveloped and overpopulated.They were not given any kind of help of any sort to move out of such areas.These territories also had very high crime rate. Due to racism they were also subjected to violence. This made them no longer see right or wrong and fight for things which they deserved.
