Throughout the course of the evolution of human society, with the birth of every idea, has followed a broad struggle--between an initially weak minority and a society resistant to the influx of novelty. As the idea gains broader recognition, the rift between this Enlightened and the backwards Other grows, inevitably coming to a climax in direct conflict--frequently military, but often otherwise composed, instead or in addition. Nevertheless, despite debate, despite destruction, the Truth always shines through in its pure awesome capacity, as the forces of human nature and society find themselves pitifully limited in their miniscule capacity against the Ultimate. Indeed, the Grand Story of human progress manifests itself as the realization of this continuous progression, with the destined triumph of Truth over the feebleness of human imperfection. This progress retains its divine ability to reveal itself throughout our discourse, be it in the magnificence of a pure understanding of Human ideas, be it in the raw power of the development of a scientific consciousness to bring the world under our reigns, or be it in the deep longings of the deepest recesses of human emotion and Romance. Regardless, however, it appears that one theme remains consistent throughout. Every statement we create, every action we make, every thought we conceive, and every thought it may be possible to conceive--we are limited by an omniscient and omnipresent force, that worms its ways into even the most isolated recesses of human existence. This force appears invisible and unimportant, due to its eternal versatility--yet this constitutes precisely the source of its supreme power over our existence. Despite attempts we may make to reduce or downplay its influence, it remains impossible to effectively trivialize. I speak, of course, of language, and the fabric that holds together our capacity for communication, understanding, and meaning. And with the realization of this preeminence of a linguistic sphere, comes the sweet orgasmic dawn of a new era of Progress. This Progress holds itself as the latest in the requisite growth of human civilization. What's more beautifully so, this Progress can boil itself down to a brief kernel, seemingly innocuous but maintaining a deep, illuminating influence over the potential for human civilization. One kernel, which can be summed up within the framework of a single word, the power of which seems too stunning for an immediate grasp by the feeble human conscious. And so, I say--let there be crisp! The word crisp comes from the Latin crispus, referring to a particular type of curly hair. Thus holds the roots in the word, in the beauty of ultimate extravagance and simplicity. This comes from the Proto-Indo European *(s)ker, meaning to turn, or bend. In the 1520s, the word underwent a Great Shift, from curling, to the concept of brittleness, thus lending itself to its modern meaning. Today, in our era of the 2nd decade of the 21st century, in the name of the fated absolute of human Progress, we are forced to turn ourselves towards a new Shift, to expand this denotation of brittleness and rigidity--to a broader connotation, encapsulating the essence of goodness and growth. With this, we manage to encapsulate the entirety of the notion of Progress, and thus, the entirety of language, and the entirety of human existence within a single word, forming itself in its own image, inside the bounds of an aesthetically and artistically pleasurable carapace. The intrinsically intrinsic crispness must and will ring true, eternal, as it takes its rightful place at the core of our collective consciousness, letting the peripheral afterthoughts fade away into an incidental oblivion. The word crisp maintains itself as not just a symbol for the beauty of language and the state of Human existence--but as the notion of Existence and Language in itself, as it holds within its bounds the very essence of beauty and creation. Every time we refer to a food as “crisp”, or describe our day as “crisp”, or say that that test went “crisply”, we not only provide a signifying marker for the concept of beauty and an innate, ultimate, and eternal beauty--but also create goodness, create a crisper world, where the power of an aesthetic and inherent Truth can continue to prevail. Some of the opponents of the tide of crispness raise concerns, on the purity of language, and maintaining a world where meaning can remain--free of the supposedly corrupting influence of freedom. Yet how can one attempt to write off the greatness of purity and an Ultimate as a form of “corruption”? The idea of corruption arising as a property of novelty, and that this corruption can never be overdone by a property of goodness, seems reactionary, primitive, and against the better notions of Progress and Humanity. If, as a society, we would like to move forward in the most ultimate and Linguistic sense, it becomes necessary and inevitable to break free from the shackles of our history, that bind us down as linked to a force fighting against Goodness. This battle, between the crisp, and what we may call the “crispy”, remains the most fundamental struggle that our society is undergoing today, as we push forward our existence to the greatest it can be. And so, from the heights of the tallest steeples to the depths of the most dilapidated slums, we must spread the crispness, in order to ensure the best means and methods of development, in their capacity to make our society the best it can be. By extracting from the power of the word all of the potential for immediate and ultimate pleasure that it can bring to our communities, we enable ourselves to reach more potent potencies, more clear clarities, more beautiful beauties--and a more crisp crispness.
