A pop superstar in her home of Turkey, singer Sertab Erener has sold over four million copies of her albums. After several releases only available in Turkey and the Middle East, 1999 brought Erener her first release widely available to the rest of the world. The self-titled collection featured hits from her previous albums as well as several new songs, and while it garnered her new attention, it didn't have the impact abroad that it had in Turkey. Two years later, another Turkish success, Turuncu, brought her more success at home and throughout Europe as well. However, her greatest success outside of Turkey was winning the coveted Eurovision song contest in 2003. Eurovision brings artists from throughout Europe together for a sort of Euro-song Olympics.
