PsyQonaut - Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress album review lyrics

Track 1 Peasantry or Light! Inside of Light! A really superb way to start off the album. This track employs some pretty crushing guitar work right off the bat and beautiful ¾ drums movements. It progresses into some almost Middle-Eastern feeling violins going in the background and after the initial climax it tones back down a bit to lead into the drone portion of this project. A really dope song that opens up new bits on each repeated listen 9/10 Track 2 Lamb's Breath Initially kind of disliked this track and didn't think it was anything special, but after a while this really grew on me well. I think this is their best drone work yet, being far superior to the drones on ADBE imo. I like how even though this is a ten minute track, it constantly switches up the drones in it with a change coming every two to three minutes to keep it fresh. There is also a lot of subtle background effects too that eventually cuts out at the end leaving a haunting and sinister drone in your face. This song is best experienced with your eyes closed, putting your mind into a dark world 9/10 Track 3 Asunder, Sweet This is the bridge between the sinister drones and the crashing finale. A very metallic sounding effect comes crashing in slowly and slowly building up its intensity. Some added guitars arrive to bring in some heavy hitting sounds to this track as well as the drone from Lamb's Breath still trodding along in the background. By the middle of the song it is a huge hulking smash up of sounds that are all fighting each other to reach the surface. By the end of the song some light violins come in as well as an Arabic sounding flute while the guitar drone just gets louder and louder. A really goddamn amazing song 9.5/10 Track 4 Piss Crowns Are Trebled The build up from Asunder, Sweet is now at maximum intensity and Piss Crowns continues on by actually letting up on the intensity a bit by introducing new strings and guitars to the mix. This little break is short lived as it kicks back up getting the strings and guitars to get louder and louder to the point of exhaustion. I absolutely love the beautiful new set of strings that comes in around halfway at the climatic point of the song. The craziest thing about this track is that after the first climax, it switches up and then BOOM hits us instantly with another climax of different and larger proportions. After the complete pinnacle of the movement it drops down and fades back into a depressing and drone-like lull to slowly cut the whole project to black. This track is one of their best ever imo 10/10 Final Verdict Well I'll just go on and say that this is my 3rd favorite project of theirs right behind LYSF and Yanqui. This grew on me a ton and on further listens with the headphones turned up this slowly revealed itself to be an extremely satisfying listen. I haven't connected to one of their records like this in years. This is also the most cohesive project of theirs as far as how well each song flows into the next, the whole thing literally feels like one large 40 minute epic track. The drones are beautiful here and have definitely improved from their last effort and the final track on here rivals nearly any song they have made in the past Definitely give this a shot if you don't enjoy it on the first listen because this thing does nothing but get better and better once you sit with it 9/10
