Philodemos - About a Girl: Philainion lyrics

Philaenion is little and dark, and she's curlier than celery and her skin is softer than down and her voice is more enchanting than Aphrodite's girdle and she'll do anything and she often doesn't ask for money. I want to go on being Philaenion's lover, O golden Aphrodite – until I find one even better. Philodemos, Epigrams 8 (Anthologia Graeca 5.121). Translation published in Andrew Dalby, Empire of Pleasures (Routledge, 2000) p.
