Discovering new limits for reckless impressions of the rock genre, and inspired by alternative bands like Jimmy Eat World or NOFX, Over It bring on invigorating stamina to the punk-pop style. Forming in Alexandria, VA, in 1998 (and later relocating to California), Over It combined a four-piece crew, fronted by Peter Munters (guitar, vocals) and supported by Nick Bailey (guitar), James Ulrich (drums), and Seth Watts (ba**). A few months after a**embling, the band entered the studio to record their first demo tape, eventually getting the attention of Negative Progression Records. It was then that the quartet released its first six-song EP, the self-titled Over It that arrived in record stores in 1999. Following a relentless tour taking the band all over the Midwest, Over It entered the studio again, preparing for their first full-length. The Ready Series -- the band's debut album, released in late 2000 -- gained significant acclaim, not only locally, but beyond, supporting the band again to tour, this time on a full-scale national tour. Obtaining consecutive airplay on numerous radio stations and raving reviews on the media, the Virginia team then started recording their third disc, the EP Hindsight 20/20, later issued in 2001. The band participated in the Vans Warped Tour in 2002, 2003 and 2004, a stint that helped build a solid fanbase before they released Silverstrand in 2005 on Lobster Records. That fall, Over It participated in an on-air MTV2 contest sponsored by Mountain Dew called "Dew Circuit Breakout" for up-and-coming bands (past winners included Yellowcard and Taking Back Sunday). Even though they ultimately lost to Hellogoodbye, the band had still jumped to the majors by the end of the year, inking a deal with Virgin. Their label debut, Step Outside Yourself, arrived in late summer 2006; the album was Over It's most focused effort yet and included ex-Don't Look Down front man Ryan Ogren now in their ranks on guitar/vocals. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
