Outside the Lines With Rap Genius - Sene Excerpt #3 -- Woodstock lyrics

SameOldShawn: I read, in your bio and a few other places, you talked about how your dad, used to play the Woodstock record all the time. So other than the Hendrix “National Anthem,” what's your favorite cut on there? Sene: Uh, I think it was pretty crazy how Havens played “Freedom” - “Freedom!” You know, that was pretty crazy. You know, I was like, “Why does he keep changing the strings?” My pop's like, “He's breaking them.” I was like, “Why would he do that?” He was like, “Don't ask so many questions. You'll understand it.” Uh, the Joe co*ker Beatles cover, obviously, which is the theme song for The Wonder Years. “A Little Help From My Friends” - that one. I remember asking, “Why is he behaving like that?” ‘Cause he was doing the whole, you know [mimes co*ker's spastic dancing]. And my pops was like, my pops spoke very clearly to me when I was little. He was like, “Drugs.” And I was like, “I don't get it.” And he was like, “Yeah, d** will make you do that. Drugs will make you behave funny." SameOldShawn: That's amazing that he was so direct Sene: Yeah, I mean, that helped me so much in life, to be quite honest, you know what I'm saying? He was just very direct. And in a way like that, you know. He was like, “Yeah, d**. Drugs will make you do some crazy stuff like that. And that's why he was doing that.” And so I didn't get it until I was older, but I had the answer already
