Omen - Genius lyrics

Yo. I want to thank everyone coming out listening to a Glorious Cool EP this evening. But, before we get out of here I got to give all the credit, all the inspiration to the legendary late great J Dilla. Detroit's finest, but you know the reason I did this project is not just because he made some hot beats. It's really to show my appreciation for somebody that had a true impact on me as an artist. You know as a kid I remember my uncle was a DJ, he used to play Tribe, Tribe Called Quest records. That was like his favorite and I loved it not even knowing that Dilla was doing some of those beats at the time. I would later here "Buster," you know his crazy flows and crazy beats he was rapping on. I would not know that was Dilla at the time Then of course Common came from my city, the influence that had. And then later discovering Slum Village, Far Side, Janet Jackson, Badu. All types of these, all these different types of records that I had been hearing and then discovering that. This was this guy named JD, and then you know so later as I became a producer I started learning and studying seeing how he was flipping records. I would here the original song and she how he would flip the sample. And he was chopping it in crazy ways and I would learn how he had his influence from Pete Rock That natural progression, how he would [?] his drums. Just the drum chooses, drum uh, you know patterns he had were amazing and so I did this project to my appreciation for all of that. All of that inspiration, influence, and impact he's had. You know not on me, but on millions of people. On millions of producers, rappers and famous producers that we all know. So his music is something to be cherished and something to be recognized and that's a glorious cool. You know, turn it up a little louder, a little louder. J Dilla
