Nicholas Messenger - Emperor Muretsu lyrics

The Emperor Muretsu gives away his rural background in his cruel caprices. He has people dig the ground for taro, after he has torn their nails out. After he has flayed their feet, he makes them walk on barley stubble. He has trees cut down when people have been made to climb the highest branches, so that he can watch them fall, or shoots them out with arrows. And it tells us he is doubled up with laughter at these antics, in the chronicle. But the rustic pranks he thinks up just for women, the translation in its delicacy, lapses into Latin to explain.
