Rodriquez Broadnax, better known by his stage name Jacquees, is an American singer-songwriter from Decatur, Georgia. Seeing the recognition as a solo artist, Jacquees also worked with artists, such as T.I., Jagged Edge, Travis Porter, Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, Trinidad James, August Alsina and Chris Brown, among others. In 2014, Jacquees has signed a recording contract deal and its management to Cash Money Records. Early life[edit] At the age of 9, Jacquees found his pa**ion for both singing and dancing, with its influences from The Jackson’s: An American Dream and The Temptations movies; imitating no less than the greatest. Jacquees participated in his first talent show, during his fifth grade at Canby Lane Elementary School; performing the Jackson 5′s, "I Want You Back", which he won first place. He successfully matriculated to Mary McCleod Bethune Middle School, where he continued competing in talent shows, winning every year; two at Bethune Middle and one at the Dekalb County Middle School Talent Show. Career[edit] In 2007, Jacquees was introduced to Orlando Grind (who is now Jacquees' manager) and was then discovered by Dexx Lee. After years of performing throughout various talent shows, he was finally introduced to Russell "Block" Spencer, the founder and then-CEO of Block Entertvvbainment. Jacquees worked in various different recording studios, but he merely blended with the team and was not given the opportunity to express his true talents. "When you see work being done around you but not for you, you tend to get discouraged," says Jacquees. At that time, Block’s focus was only rap, not R&B. It wasn’t until summer of 2009, when Block witnessed how talented Jacquees was and shifted his vision. After that Jacquees began working closely with Block Entertainment's recording studio and began gaining some more exposure with the release of his first single, titled "Krazy", a collaboration with the founder of Grand Hustle and American rapper T.I.. . On March 25, 2014, Jacquees released his second EP, titled 19, independently. The EP debuted at number 15 on the US Billboard 200 for Top R&B Albums. The 11-tracks EP features guest appearances from Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, Lloyd and Trinidad James. On October 1, 2014, Jacquees announced via social media that he has signed a recording contract deal and with Cash Money Records.[2]
