Fracking is a new mining method growing fast, That involves drilling rock deep down underground, To extract natural gas, As of late, There has been a lot of debate, People are wondering if Fracking, Is causing unusual Earthquakes, Some scientist say, It is not the drilling and rock fracturing itself, But rather the earthquakes are being caused by the disposal wells, These wells hold tons of gallons of leftover Fracking fluid, injected in this underground space, This may create more pressure on fault lines causing stronger seismic waves and shakes, In towns that are not known for earthquakes, Like Kansas, Oklahoma and Ohio, But other scientists state, Fracking does not cause impactful earthquakes, Plus if Fracking wells are created properly with a protective steel case, There shouldn't be any left over fluid in the first place, And no water to waste, But no matter which side you believe, Or which side you take, We can all agree, Fracking has permanently altered the energy production of our nation, And this booming industry is in need of more oversight and regulation.
