G-Star Raw - Lichting 2012 lyrics

When searching for words to describe this Lichting show, the first one I can think of is hot. Let's be honest, being Dutch means we always must have at least one thing to complain about. But after looking past the pouring sweaty heads in front of me, I find myself typing this with a smile on my face feeling delighted to watch a new group of young designers showcasing their collections. It's like looking through their soul; for a brief 45 minutes these kids bare it all and present themselves to you on a silver platter. And what a platter it was. Colourful and modern marionette dolls, leather kaftans, glittering masks and a giant eagle as the musthave of the season. It was all there, shown by the talented graduates of Lichting 2012. Watching the designers present their collections and finding the words to describe their works of art, makes you just feel the excitement right with them. Remembering what it feels like to have a dream you love so bad, you'd be willing to sell your soul to fulfill that dream. It's a good reminder of why it's so important to always, no matter how successful or how far you've come along, have a new dream to pursue. Then in that one last minute, where the designers walk down the runway hand in hand with their models, showing off their favorite look. In that one moment, you see absolute bliss and contentment in their eyes. I love that moment and it makes me proud of being in this industry and even prouder that a brand such as G-Star supports talent like this. A major congratulations to the brilliant Yvonne Kwok, who was up against some fierce competition (particularly David who I adored) She did an impeccable job in showing us that simplicity isn't always the only way to go. Sometimes, marching dolls have to take over life, to remind us to stay young, stay happy and most of all: enjoy the fun ride that is called Lichting 2012 (and the world of fashion).
