Frank John James - More Than Just A Memory lyrics

Another day I wake up An empty space inside my heart no one seems to take up I'm never letting go Cos even though I get like, five people at my shows I got my spirit upper lifted And everyday I thank the gods they made a kid so gifted Cos if it wasn't for my writing sk**s, I'd be hiding still Never knowing what it meant to live with exciting thrill Nevertheless, at times I get an ugly feeling deep inside my chest It breaks my heart the way I see my people grind Selling fruits and flowers, just to shrine for they fam This lady on my block goes around collecting cans So that one day, she can get her kid some better looking pants And people still complain about the way they're living Be thankful for the things you got, and the things you've been given Cos people like to say that their lives are really difficult But never in their lives have they gone through something critical Another day I live Another day I ask myself where the hell I've been I'm lost as hell when it comes to me Alone with no company, but know I got your back I'll take a bullet if you down with me Sign of respect, to everybody listening I hope you never see your people go through what I'm witnessing It's disrespectful, the way they see my brown skin I'm college educated, yet you ask why all the frowns, kid Not enough people go to college as minorities Which, I think is the reason we have no sense of authority Tell me, can you imagine us uniting? The power that we'd have if everyone would stop the fighting Come into my neighborhood, you'll see we're the majority But kids don't go to school Instead, they be asking where the forties be And I don't blame them, cos there's no one to encourage them Which I be trying to do in every rhyme, to try and nourish them Soon they'll be flourishing Another day I breath Another day I wonder when my time will be to leave And when I do, I won't be sad as long as all of you remember me In hopes that I become more than just another memory embedded in your mind I hope to touch a soul or two, in every single rhyme And if I do, then that's okay as long as I live in your hearts The way we live our lives is really up to us You can live it with the negative, or live it with the plus Remember that eventually, we're known to turn to dust And you might be made of steel, but eventually you'll rust Isn't it funny how you start off really small Eventually we learn how to move and how to crawl Point of views will change as we reach a certain age And there will come a time when you will reach your final page Life is like a book, everybody has a story But only you decide if all the tales in there are boring
