Douglas Garcia - Monomyth Essay lyrics

A hero in a Epic Hero Monomyth doesn't always have to win at the end, what defines his status are the action and stages he pa**es by. All the heroes in a Epic Hero Monomyth have a quest they have to take that leads them to a resolution it at the end. At the end of the story the hero must return to the ordinary world after being in the special world. These characteristics define if it is a hero that has gone through through a journey. Luke Skywalker fulfils the Epic Hero Monomyth, because he goes through the same stages a hero faces which starts off as a Status Quo. He starts off as a normal person on a farm, then is given a Call To Adventure, because he is given a message from Princess Leia. After this stage he has to go through the Assistance stage because there is someone that enters in his life that teaches him about the Force. Luke, then faces the Departure stage by leaving to another planet and facing a Trial by confronting the storm troopers. The hero in this story which is Luke completes the quest and wins the fight between the two armies. Finally when everything is completed he starts a New Life and things return to the normal (Status Quo). My hero Brian .D fulfills the role of a hero in an Epic Hero Monomyth, because he begins being a normal gamer trying to enter into VGHS like the rest of the gamers. Then he beats The Law (antagonist) and his world totally changes, because he gets accepted into VGHS and just beat “the best gamer”. When he joins he gets Assistance from Ki and Ted and faces his first trial and overcomes it. Brian gets high reputation and is the target of many gamers, which leads him to getting expelled for a short period until he is able to prove he belongs there by beating The Law again. When this is done everything returns to the ordinary world, but now is the highest ranked player at the academy, and now dates Jenny. In my opinion Brian .D is a better example of a role model for today, because of the time period of the story. Unlike in Star Wars the story is in a galaxy and can't relate to today's time, because that is in another world. Brian .D's social life can connect with today, because today in social life if you do something big then you will start to get fame like Brian .D when he beat The Law. In Star Wars the majority of the characters and material(light sabers) are fictional, so the actions and behaviors' of the role players are different than in a natural world. In Brian. D's story the outside forces that come in are the same from today, which in this story is The Law after getting beat. Brian D's problems that he faces are the same from what someone would confront if he were to go from the bottom to the top and beat” the best gamer”, and in social life. In a Epic Hero Monomyth a hero has to go through different stages that try to stop it from shining and it starts off with a Status Quo. My chosen character Brian .D has to go from the bottom to the top, and that's why it makes his actions important in the Epic Hero Monomyth. He went from being a normal gamer to being the best gamer and being ranked first at VGHS at the end of the story.
