Pop-punk quartet Don't Look Down included vocalist/guitarist Ryan Ogren, guitarist Matt Emburgia, drummer Tom Parker, and ba**ist Jesse Rendell. Formed in New Jersey in late 1998, the band was soon playing covers at local all-ages punk shows. This exposure led to higher-profile opening gigs and interest from surf and skate companies that offered all-important sponsorships. DLD signed with Iguana in 2000 and issued Start the Show two years later. Well in line with the work of influences like MXPX and Jimmy Eat World, Show also sparkled with energy derived from the quartet's extensive experience with backyard and basement rock shows. An extensive tour followed the album's release. Don't Look Down jumped to Nitro in early 2003 and issued the Five EP in June of that year. More touring followed, including a few dates on the ever-popular Warped Tour before the band followed up with Fear in Love in fall 2004. Rumors began circulating a bit later that the band had broken up, and despite no formal announcement confirming or denying the speculations, Ogren resurfaced playing in the ranks of Over It in 2006. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
