[Both Steve and Bucky walk into the facility and go down an elevator, weapons ready. They walk down a hallway and are about to go up the elevator, when they hear a noise of someone trying to open the doors.] STEVE ROGERS: You ready? BUCKY BARNESl Yeah. [They are forced open by Ironman; he gets inside and takes off the mask] TONY STARK: You seem a little defensive. STEVE ROGERS: It's been a long day. TONY STARK: At ease, soldier; I'm not currently after you. STEVE ROGERS: Then why are you here? TONY STARK: Maybe your story's not so crazy. Maybe. Ross has no idea I'm here, I like to keep it that way. Otherwise, I got to arrest myself. STEVE ROGERS: Well, that sounds like a lot of paper work. [lowers his shield] It's good to see you, Tony. TONY STARK: Me too, Cap. [looks at Bucky who's still aiming his weapon at him] Manchurian Candidate, you're k**ing me. There's a truce here, you can drop it. [Steve raises his hand to Bucky who lowers his weapon. They start to look for Zemo and the other Winter Soldiers, with Black Panther stealthily and silently following them] TONY STARK: I got heat signatures. STEVE ROGERS: How many? TONY STARK: Uh, one. [They arrive at the Winter Soldiers room, but see bullet holes in the gla**. They realize they were all k**ed] HELMUT ZEMO: If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep. Did you really think I wanted more of you? BUCKY BARNES: What the hell? HELMUT ZEMO: I'm grateful to them though, they brought you here. [A window opens and shows Zemo's face. Ironman readies his arm thrusters. Cap throws his shield towards him, but it bounces back to him] HELMUT ZEMO: Please, Captain. The Soviets built this chamber to withstand the launch blast of UR-100 rockets. TONY STARK: I'm betting I can beat that. HELMUT ZEMO: Oh, I'm sure you could, Mr. Stark, given time, but then you'll never know why you came. STEVE ROGERS: You k**ed innocent people in Vienna just to bring us here? [Steve approaches the window where Zemo is while Black Panther listens] HELMUT ZEMO: I thought about nothing else for over a year. I studied you, I followed you, but now that you are standing here, I just realized... There's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes. How nice to find a flaw. STEVE ROGERS: You're Sokovian... is that what this is about? HELMUT ZEMO: Sokovia was a failed state long before you blew it to hell. No. I'm here because I made a promise. STEVE ROGERS: You've lost someone. I've lost everyone... and so will you. [A screen lights up. "16 December 1991"] HELMUT ZEMO: An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again, but one which crumbles from within... that's dead... forever. [The screen shows a road.] TONY STARK: I know that road. What is this? [The screen shows the same car crash that the Winter Soldier caused at the beginning of the movie. A motorcycle rides by and stops. Howard Stark crawls out of the car, bloodied.] HOWARD STARK: Help my wife. Please. Help her. [looks up and sees Bucky] Sergeant Barnes? [Bucky grabs Howard by the hair, pulls him up and bashes his face with his metal arm, k**ing him instantly. He places him back into the car, putting his head on the steeling wheel] MARIA STARK: Howard. Howard! Help. [Bucky goes to her side of the car and chokes her to d**h with his right arm. He then proceeds to use his gun to shoot the camera. Tony stays in shock for a few seconds, before going after Barnes, but Cap stops him] STEVE ROGERS: Tony! Tony. TONY STARK: Did you know? STEVE ROGERS: I didn't know it was him. TONY STARK: Don't bullsh** me, Rogers! Did you know? STEVE ROGERS: ...Yes. [Tony waits a bit and then punches Cap. He puts the Ironman mask back on and goes after Bucky, shooting the gun out of his hands. As they fight, Zemo leaves. Ironman grabs Bucky and puts him on the ground, about to shoot him, but Steve throws his shield and makes him miss. As they fight, Tony uses some kind of mechanical cord that latches on and ties Cap's legs together. He then grabs Barnes, flies up and pins him on the wall, about to shoot him with one of his thrusters. Bucky grabs it with his metal arm gets it out of the way and starts crushing it. Tony then aims a missile at him, but Bucky redirects it elsewhere. Cap frees himself from the leg shackles. The explosion makes a huge part of the facility drop, which seperates Tony and Bucky.] STEVE ROGERS: Get out of here! [Bucky starts running. Ironman tries shooting him but misses. Steve gets in the way. Bucky punches a bu*ton that opens a hatch to the outside] STEVE ROGERS: It wasn't him, Tony. HYDRA had control of his mind! TONY STARK: Move! [Tony starts flying] STEVE ROGERS: It wasn't him! [Steve grabs his leg midflight and bashes the shield onto the thruster, which makes him fall. He uses a laser beam to make debris fall and block Cap's way. Bucky continues to go up and Tony tries to go after him.] FRIDAY: Left boot-jet failing. Flight systems compromised. TONY STARK: Ah, crap [He gets to Bucky and kicks him. He's about to shoot, but Cap jumps between them with his shield, which sends back the blast towards Tony] STEVE ROGERS: He's not going to stop. Go. [Cap takes out a small hookshot; when Tony flies back up to go after Bucky, Cap jumps down while shooting the hookshot around Ironman's neck, dragging him down with him. Cap tries to throw his shield at Tony, but he blasts it all the way down. Tony then tries to shoot down the hatch's support, but he can't seem to target it] TONY STARK: Come on. Come on. FRIDAY: Targeting system's inaccurate, Boss. [The Ironman helmet comes off] TONY STARK: I'm eye balling it. [He shoots the support down, which closes the hatch, making Bucky fall. They scuffle a bit, until Tony has Bucky in a headlock from behind] TONY STARK: Do you even remember them? BUCKY BARNES: I remember all of them. [Ironman glides down while choking Bucky, but Cap jumps towards them, crashing them on the wall. While Bucky falls on one of the platforms leading to the hatch, Cap and Tony fall back on the ground] STEVE ROGERS: This isn't going to change what happened. TONY STARK: I don't care. He k**ed my mom. [Tony and Cap start fighting. Tony gets Cap on the ground and is about to shoot him, but Bucky jumps down and hits him with the shield. Both soldiers team-up on Ironman, who ends up pushing Cap off and goes one-on-one with Bucky, who almost overpowers him and is about to take out the chest energy core with his metal arm. Tony shoots the metal arm off. He's about to k** him again, but Cap comes through and clashes with Ironman.] [The scene cuts to outside in the snow. Zemo is sitting on a rock, his phone to his ear] ZEMO'S WIFE: [on the phone] You should've seen his little face. Just try, okay? I'm going to bed. I love you. [The movie show that it wasn't a phone call, but a voicemail left by Zemo's wife that he keeps listening to. T'Challa stealthily takes off his Black Panther helmet and approaches Zemo] T'CHALLA: I almost k**ed the wrong man. HELMUT ZEMO: Hardly an innocent one. T'CHALLA: Is this what you wanted? To see them rip each other apart? HELMUT ZEMO: My father lived outside the city. I thought we would be safe there. My son was excited. He could see the Iron Man from the car window, and I told my wife, "Don't worry. They are fighting in the city. We are miles from harm." When the dust cleared, and the screaming stopped... it took me two days after I found their bodies. My father... still holding my wife and son in his arms. And the Avengers? They went home. I knew I couldn't k** them; more powerful men than me have tried, but, if I could get them to k** each other... I'm sorry about your father. He seemed a good man, with a dutiful son. T'CHALLA: Vengeance has consumed you. It's consuming them. I'm done letting it consume me. [he retracts his vibranium claws] Justice will come soon enough. HELMUT ZEMO: Tell that to the dead. [Zemo is about to commit suicide by shooting his head from underneath, but T'Challa put his hand in the path, his vibranium suit stopping the bullet. He then gets Zemo in a chokehold] T'CHALLA: The living are not done with you yet. [The scene cuts back to Captain America laying the smack down on Ironman] FRIDAY: You can't beat him hand to hand! TONY STARK: an*lyse his fighting pattern! FRIDAY: Scanning! Countermeasures ready. [Tony stops Cap's shield punch dead in its tracks] TONY STARK: Let's kick his a**. [Tony starts countering Cap's moves and shoots him with a thruster blast in the rib. Cap is on the ground next to Bucky, looking up] STEVE ROGERS: He's my friend. TONY STARK: So was I. [He gives Cap a one-two before throwing him.] TONY STARK: Stay down. Final warning. STEVE ROGERS: I can do this all day. [Tony aims one of his hand thrusters towards him, but before he can shoot, Bucky grabs his leg. He kicks him in the face; this gives Cap the opportunity to grab him and throw him on the ground. He then punches Tony in the face many times, takes the shield and bashed the shellhead many times until the helmet comes off. When it seems Steve is going to k** Tony, he instead jams the shield into the power core, depowering the suit. Steve walks away with Bucky] TONY STARK: That shield does not belong to you. You don't deserve it! My father made that shield! [Steve stops and drops the shield. He leaves, while Tony is on the ground]
