Boonsri Dickinson - The Creative Engineer lyrics

Things are in a natural state of decay. Organic matter rots and decomposes, Entropy measures disorder, It's a physical state. But in the chaos, there is order, Once I began to notice the details, My perception of the world, Slowed down and became focused. Watching the clock tick, We are all on a race against time, To escape the daily grind. Everything takes work, All systems lose energy..even love, Creativity is where the truest spark comes from. But the problem with creative work, Is that if you love what you do so much, Time disappears. Money doesn't matter, But it does when there's none, Because without the dollar bills, Those bills are hard to pay. Some stress motivates, but stress is bad for my telomeres, F the flight or flight mode, Better to meditate, If I do what I want now, The anxiety for what I think I want, Dissipates into this exact moment. What is a rich life? The freedom to express yourself, When you have time to explore the inner depths of your mind, And be alone in your thoughts, It takes practice, But it is worth it. To go beyond the consumer pursuits of happiness, To embrace creativity and its process, Makes you an active participant in media, Instead of a couch potato, Where it is easy to let your body decay, From inactivity of living through the fantasies of others, Maybe it is one way to live, But to experience life for what it is, Is the better way, Experience can change your mind, Feeling neurons spark as they form new memories. Help is no where to be seen, But I have all that I need, Just the time and space, To keep producing pieces of art, That reflect what is on my mind, And what my heart feels, The pain that comes with the struggle, That they say will end, But I doubt their optimism. I'm not talking about a private jet or an electric car, I'm not a material girl, Dollars can't buy creativity, From what I've seen, it can hamper it, Suffocate it. Growing up poor, Makes it hard to value something that was never important to begin with, Perhaps it keeps me grounded, But also makes me feel trapped, In a pay check to pay check reality, That I just can't seem to climb out of. The big bang and gravitational waves, This story has been told before, For it is the ultimate tale of the human condition. Just turn the camera on and let it capture, What it wants to see. It's not about me, It's about you. Chemistry doesn't depend on music interests, Bonds form when there's an attraction or repulsion, But the strongest ones form when there's a connection to be shared, Stories can express what struggles we have overcome, And continue to endure throughout time. A video can evoke emotion, Preserve a voice, Save a thought, Edit a memory, Record history. All I can do is, Do my best to document life through these lens.
