In 1988, ba**ist, guitarist, and vocalist Bill Graber formed the band Tilt-A-Whirl with drummer/vocalist Scott McDonald and ba**ist/guitarist Rob Graber. After being threatened with a lawsuit, they changed the name to Arcwelder in time for their second album, Jacket Made in Canada, released in 1991. The band, originally based in Minneapolis, combines a Husker Du-influenced garage rock with pop melodies.
