Back in the days when Kut Above paved the way
Me and Raise used to lob to my brother name Jays, in Corio Bay
This kid from the states set his garage up
With mics, two belt drives and his DJ A-Mirage
Out Large and What it Is were inspiration
For this estranged up and comers hope to stake a claim
And make a name, patiently I waited building sk**s
Till the moment came that my name could fill the bill
I k**ed that little show, my flow was tight and right on song
And we rolled 25 strong on the train trip from Geelong
From that day on, the slow progression began
I picked up more mics than markers, pens and pressure pak cans
Impressing rap fans locally, all city next mission
Hooked up with DJ Frenzy on a quest for recognition
Cementing my position on the mic was all I thought of
Brought the house down this one night
I'm sure heads caught the
Aura of this author, astounding men and women both
Chicks vickin my sh**, blokes scoping my flows as dope
As they ever saw, metaphors and similies
I stormed up on stage like the Anzacs in Gallipoli
And gave em a little taste of big things to come
See '91 was over, '92 had just begun
And while my crew was running round intent on k**ing yards
I was building raps with Strut when he was still Jard
I planned a 6 track tape at this date with Johnny Idem
My rhyming was f**ing tight it just took me yonks to write em
And despite all the plans and plotting, and the fans I'd gotten
Laced arrest my brain and the rest got forgotten
(Cut Chorus)
Now the next few years had slid by and still I ran through
The spots rocking raps from ruby red to bamboo
A new wave of crews played, on their crusades
Though few stayed long enough to wait to see their dues paid
I started building with the Forms in North Fitz
And tore strips off mics on any set we saw fit
In May '95 we got live in PBS as guests and
With Prowlz, Dedlee and Menace and then on Raises essence
Then it dawned, when P said "Whaddup
You rocked every spot you got up and it time you dropped some product?"
Formed Unkut then we pieced my first LP's release
Without further ado to say the least
We reached 4 tracks in and dropped a 12
Sheer Talent rocked and got picked off quick as it hopped on the shelf
Amateurs was next in the succession plan
And it dropped but not without the endless headaches at the pressing plant
Never the less man, that sh** sold in boatloads
With next to no promos, renowned for my slow flows
Around this time I got my shine on some features
And helped conceive a team of this rhyming scenes supremists
LC!...
Yeah the Lyrical Commission was born and brought the rawness
Formed of this cities best and repped it's four corners
With Murderous Metaphors, fought wars and packed tours
Collabed with gods 'n' saw rats sort to black ball us
Notorious, rap lords that smash and grabbed cordless
Shures that put us on the map from out the black waters
I gave my balls to this cause, warts and all sorts of dumb sh**
20 years plus still ain't done with
(Cut Chorus)
