This beat, man, this beat got me as soon as I heard it. It was just so perfect
“Here he go again, talkin about riding
I spent so much time gliding on that i-95n”
See, NY is different than FL. In FL, I'd hardly listen to any new music unless it's in a car. I drove a lot. A 30 minute drive was normal, so listening would be my only priority outside driving, so it was perfect. That being said, I always like to make driving-friendly-records because I know how good those feel. On One Ear At A Time I had ‘Cruising' and on No Barcode I had ‘Speedin' and ‘How It Feels', I always have and always will make those records because I know how important they are to people with vehicles. Also, I have a confession, I spent way more time gliding on I4 than the I-95 but…. rhyming purposes
I spend the first couple bars talking about why I made this record and similar records, incase people were catching on, ha. It just feels good. Some records just feel good and I was glad I could make one of those
“In the South, hit the car wash when in doubt
$10, they'll clean that b**h in and out”
Now, a little insight/secret, I had a video planned for this but the homie Na**acre ended up out of town when I wanted to do it aka when I was in town. His lense and shooting style is so perfect for this song and I doubt I'll let anyone else shoot it. When I get a vision for a record/visual it's hard for me to switch that over if I'm married to it. So, maybe once day we'll get to it, maybe not, time will tell
“This that weekend vibe
For your weekday drive”
In the end, I wanted to create a story. A story of not just me, of everyone else heading to work, going through their playlist looking for something to bump, maybe their car ain't the newest but they'll treat it like such…. During that mindset, I birthed… Swang'n. I hope to make those commutes to work easier. I want to have the record that makes you late for work because you're in the parking lot just sitting and jamming. I want to have the record you have to let all the windows down for because bumpin that Allen York means something. That preverbal head nod while you in traffic to someone you don't know to let them know you see them riding. I want to be the soundtrack to that. That's why Swang'n was created
