Hello my name is Peter and I am one of twelve men who walked with Jesus of Nazareth
I'm proud to say that now, but there was a time when my lips denied even knowing him
I can still remember when my brother came to me
Running from the Sea of Galilee saying, "Simon! We've found Messiah!"
And he introduced the man to me
Instantly I knew this man was different
Looking in his eyes you can't deny
He saw right through my armor and calmed the frightened man inside
He said that I would be called "Peter" – that's "The Rock"
How I wish he'd never said those words
They hung around my neck just like a millstone in three years when the tragedy occurred
You see, for three years here in Israel he taught us of the Kingdom of God
But there were those who wanted him silenced as well as we who called him Lord
"I saw you with Yeshua!"
I do not know the man
"But I saw you with Yeshua!"
I do not know the man
"You're one of his disciples!"
I do not know the man
How could I have said that
Tell me how could I deny this man of God who loved me in spite of my failures
This time did I fall too far
I would have begged him to forgive me, but by this time they'd taken him away
And they nailed him to the tree they made him carry
I swore my life was over that day
But three days later he appeared to us in a room that we had locked because of fear
And he said, "Peace be with you, my brothers." I could barely see his face through my tears
And later on as we were fishing, Yeshua stood upon the misty shore
And he called us in to share a holy message. His heart was set on seeing me restored
"Peter, do you love me?"
Lord you know I do
"Peter, do you love me?"
Lord you know I do
"Peter, do you love me?"
Lord you know I do
"Then feed my lambs. And tend my sheep. Feed my lambs."
