Verse 1:
Mum always tried her hardest to make sure her son was focused
Mum always had a smile, no matter how slow I progressed
Mum would always say that her son was the best
So Mum never let me forget that this life is a test
Raised in Christianity, I used to go church
Mum would always drop me off to school, then she'd rush off to work
And Mum saw her son change when I turned nineteen
But she still loved me the same, when I converted to the deen
Chorus:
Obviously, I love Allah the most in this dunya
And then I love the Prophet and his Sunnah
But after my love for Islam, comes the love for my mother
Definitely, I love Allah the most in this dunya
And then I love the Prophet and his Sunnah
But after my love for Islam, comes the love for my mother
Verse 2:
Mum was always asking me questions, “Son, how'd you do that?”
Mum would sit with me and watch DVDs of Ahmad Deedat
And slowly but surely, Mum would recognise the truth
And appreciate the changes that I made since my youth
Mum knew I was flying away, she wanted spend the day together
That was our moment, we went mosque together
And it was enough to make me smile, to see Mum with a hair-cover
And then she dropped the bomb, she wanted to take her shahadah
Allahu akbar x2
Outro:
Oh Allah, help me love my mum like she loves me
Do for my mum, half of what she's done for me
Ameen
