I had no reason not to walk away in anger, but one look at you brings me back to bay
I never asked for any more than just be faithful, when given any chance I would betray
As any foot was made to stumble every flesh is made to rot
As any rule and heart for brokenness and every face forgot
We break each other down and crawl back begging baby please forgive
We crush the cradle burn the home down to a cinder dancing in rubble
But is there time left to seek out that which we came for? And if there is what if we seek
In vain?
And would you walk with me in quiet contemplation, of why we need to hurt each other
While we also need each other
And why they taught us hate?
When all we need is love?
And why they taught us fear?
And that his name was god?
If righteousness be real
And holiness divine
Take a look around
And tell me what you find tonight
This is not what God intended us to be
We take pride in ignorance hatred and bigotry
Judge me not lest you then be judged by me
Chain them down before they realize theyre free
We live in constant pain reminding us that weve betrayed
He that troubles his own house will inherit the wind, or so they say(proverbs 11:29)
Watchful and worried we anguish in anticipation
Fearful that what weve done will never be forgiven
What is left that we have not defiled that we can still call sacred?
What is left that prevents us from being nothing more than animals?
Is this what the gods intended us to be:
Bind deaf and ignorant to any integrity?
What then now, will become of you and me?
And tell me now, when will we truly be free?
