City Shock
Life's got him beat
He's all leering eyes and gnashing teeth
For 56 years it's been the same
His mother died last year so who's to blame?
It's all he's ever known
No real friends and he's all alone
Age creeps up and hope fades away
He's just another sad face on the subway train
He's got
City Shock
Sick of the smells, the noise, the sights
Bricks and trash and sirens in the night
It's the same routine
Another week chained to the computer screen
Moved him to the basement from the second floor
At least his desk is by the door
Still drinks too much
Sneaks a shot when he eats his lunch
He'll stagger on home when his work is done
Like a shock troop after a night on the front
He's got
City Shock
This is his life and he's stuck with it
Just hopes and dreams of how it should've went
He's got
City Shock
Sick of the smells, the noise, the sights
Bricks and trash and sirens in the night
