by Martha K.
He cried like a child in the corner of nonexistent walls
With a dream clutched between his tiny paws.
He wept the coming days
He swallowed the words
Bitter d**h.
To live knowing the end
To live waiting for tomorrow to meet on yesterday's feet
To repeat and repeat
To count your heart beat
To grow a century older in the split of a second
To watch your feet bleed
On the cheeks of an invisible path.
He cried like a child
Knowing he will never love again
Never trust again
For he has been taken for a fool hundreds of times
For they have burned his sun
k**ed his moon
Stole his time.
He cried
Moaning on his own funeral
Burying his own soul,
For he no longer had a footstep in this world.
He cried
Rivers of blood.
No one saw, no one felt
The birth of the beast they have created;
He slept a rabbit and woke a crying predator.
