At some time in the course of each lifespan
Great crises will be faced by every man.
Around his neck may hang an albatross,
Symbolic, like the burden of a cross.
Life's travelled path looks smooth viewed from afar,
But hidden rocks and thorns the soul may scar
For though great beauty doth the rose impart
Its sharpened thorns may reach and pierce the heart
Ofttime the jagged rock and sharpened thor
To mortal man seems more than can be borne.
But he must choose the garments he will wear,
And his own cross he then must face to bear.
But God holds in his hand a guiding light
Providing every man with spiritual sight
Extending light and hope to all mankind
For which without the soul of man is blind.
The helping hand of God is ever there
To ease the pain that man through life must bear.
But man will oft reject that helping hand
And opt instead to make alone his stand.
Although God gave to man the right to choose,
His choice determines if he win or lose.
Though God will neer withdraw his gift from Man,
Man's destiny he holds in his own hand.
