Left for no good- Detroit Public Schools
By: Savannah Smith
Destruction of Detroit schools has really increased over the years, if once were abandoned. Most schools would have Graffiti, broken windows, boarded up doors also empty lands that have not been taken care of for years or months. Schools used to be all brick with windows that lifted up instead of sliding up they were always tall buildings with at the most of seven floors.
Detroit Public Schools that have been abandoned are now like waste lands. Schools still have books left behind in them even brand new ones. These schools are then opened up to homeless people by them removing the boards off of the windows or doors then climbing inside. In 2009 a frozen and and a**umed Homeless Man was found at the bottom of a elevator shaft. Detroit Public Schools that have been abandoned are no safe place to enter or even to visit especially ones that have had an explosion or fire damage. Grounds around it aren't predictable of what to step on or to fall into. Theses lands have no use to them anymore and are dangerous.
There are at the most of Fifty-Four abandoned schools in Detroit, MI. Seven Detroit Public Schools have recently closed in the year of 2013. Five Detroit Public Schools have closed down in the year of 2012. Two Detroit Public Schools closed down in the year of 2011 and many more years before continued of closure of Detroit Public Schools and left for no good. Has Detroit just gave up on Education to the public neighborhoods? Have they left these schools there for a reason or just to make it another waste land? Questions many of them that we would like to know.
