I do remember the story well
I could tell the tale but you may not think that it's true
A Man was talking about living good
And if He could He would offer His life for you
I thought He was a crazy man but He acted so cool
He said the dumb could understand and the pauper could rule
He outsmarted everyone who got in His way
And it was clear the Man right here was perfectly sane
If you've ever had a hollow heart
He can fill it, He can
If you've ever torn your soul apart
He can mend it, He can
I do remember what people said, this Man is better dead
But I could not help what they'd feel
I would just listen it sounded good
Well, the Man, He stood alone and sang His song from a hill
He aggravated everyone who thought they were fine
He called people vipers if they were living a lie
And I could not shake what He was saying to me
Ah, and when He died, down inside I was so incomplete
If you've ever had a hollow heart
He can fill it, He can
If you've ever torn your soul apart
He can mend it, He can
That was the way it started
A new testament for me and you
I could leave it broken hearted or take it all in
But what am I gonna do
