O Lord God, You to whom vengeance belongs
O God who avenges, shine forth
Rise up, O Righteous Judge of the earth;
Pay back to the proud what they deserve
How long, O Lord, will the wicked
How long will the wicked be in triumph?
How long can they say "The Lord does not see"
How long can they think you do not notice?
He who made the ear, does He not hear?
He who formed the eye, does He not see?
He who smites the nations, does He not punish?
He who teaches man knowledge?
Take notice, you senseless among the people;
You fools, when will you understand?
The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are a mere breath
The Lord knows all human plans; that they are futile
The wicked band together against the righteous
And condemn the innocent to d**h
They pour out words, speaking arrogant things
All who do evil boast proudly
He will turn their own wickedness upon them
And destroy them by means of their own evil;
He will repay them for their sins
And destroy them for their wickedness
Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord
The one you teach from your law;
You grant them relief from days of trouble
Till a pit is dug for the wicked
For the Lord will not reject his people;
He will never forsake his inheritance
Judgment will again be righteous
And the upright in heart will follow it
The great day of the Lord is near -- near and coming quickly
The cry on that day is bitter; the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry
Lord, arise!
(Psalm 94, Zephaniah 1)
