Special Girls
Reisa L. Gerber/Sami G. Sugarman
The sweet sun shines like happiness
When I see you smiling with private eyes-
I realize that your heart is beating close to mine-
And it means everything....
Mom dropped me off from school
Last Friday,
And as I came runnin' in,
I saw him standing at his locker
Opening the combination.
When I opened MY lock,
I was shaken, and my heart was beating-
Faster than it ever had,
But it came into my mind,
Because I've had that lock for a long, long time,
it opened!
Homework and papers, and notebooks and test-
9-7-2-1...voila!
Well, later that morning,
Our friends were talking about the dance
that was scheduled for that night!
I had a brand, new outfit, a gift from my
Sisters at my birthday bash!
(happy birthday to you, too!)
When school was over for the day,
I quickly made a beeline for the door!
I saw him standing there....just then,
And I said, like, you know, Neil Young's,
"When you dance,
Do your senses tingle and take a chance...?"
He laughed and said,
"Alot of those pretty girls are from the third world"
They can drop dead, mama!"
"I'll pick you up at 8:00 p.m. tonight,
I'm taking a longshot chance,but,...would you...
Like to....go to the dance with me?"
And I said, "Babe, I'll be waiting! After all,
I AM sixteen...and I'm sharing my anticipation
With all those special girls out there!"
@nickname Reisa calls herself as basic
composer of this song, with Sami, my niece,
"Betsy Jonny Tory Java"!
