In a chair
At a table
I flipped my heart upside down and
Watched the contents
Spill out on to this page
And as my desires formed words and thoughts
I can see your fragrance here so well
Oh dear my child
You've captured my heart
And I gave it away
As a gracious host
You served your voice on a golden platter
And I took your melody in
Only to notice the sting of the venom you hid
In the words of your lips
My body is overwhelmed with terrible pain
Because I've been trying to cut off the three best parts of us
I've come to realize there's no escape
So I'll come back and play the music You wrote for me
Dear privacy, do you remember love we used to share
I'll play these strings
All night long
Outside the window
Of your ear
Until you sing your beautiful song
Oh dear beloved
I've awaited your return
I've kept my ink
You are my quill
Now i can write you in to my man*scripts
We will feast in the glory
Of sonnets we've written
On lives that committed
Their lives to me
My body is overwhelmed with terrible pain
Because I've been trying to cut off the three best parts of us
I've come to realize there's no escape
So I'll come back and play the music You wrote for me
There's only one place to get to
There's only one man to get through
The time is short
This is the end of the line
We'll carve this poetry across our chest
So these words will not be forgotten
We'll prove our allegiance lies with You
Because Your song is everlasting.
