[Clip before song start, reading between her and PMC]
Her: "Said I'm wondering in my day"
PMC: "Yeah, took me about 5 years to get this out"
Her: "cause all I do I'm breaking down. All I've got are screams inside, but somehow they come out and smile, and I'm wondering if I'll always feel this way, this way"
PMC: "This is for you, true story"
[verse 1]
You should've seen that she was elegant, beautifully intelligent
Cause baby girl was perfect like no person I had ever met
It never could escape my mind, I would always make the time
In a world of open books to read she was my favorite line
Sending texts back back and forth from morning till after dark
We played the same video games and attracted hearts
But the music took control, I could see it shook her soul
And what pushed her most were the folks that were stood opposed
Next to me, I thought it was destiny, but they were ingredients leading the wrong recipe
So she had to fade away, said she couldn't take the change even though the gra** only ever grows greener [start a rainy day?]
And I performed a show up in Ma** man I didn't know that Baby girl had called me twice, damn and I missed them both and when I checked my voicemail she left me two messages, the first one was nothing but this is what the second said:
[Break for voicemail reading]
"Said I'm wondering in my day, cause I'm not too far from breaking down. All I've got are screams inside, but somehow they come out and smile, and I'm wondering if I'll always feel this way, this way"
[verse 2]
Yeah, so right after my show I had to call her back
Been a few years since i saw her last
She told me about her life and what it meant to her
Said her friends were dead to her, said her boyfriend mistreated and neglected her
That he'd lie and cheat on her, then she'd lie and cheat on him until they broke up, and thats when it cut deep within
So she'd start to party more, s** d** and alcohol, depression's a disease and broken wings always have to fall
I really tried to help, but she locked me out, before but she knocked me down, she forced me to watch her drown with thoughts that were not allowed
I stress she was incomplete, desperately in the need of a friend I wish was me
I'm feeling all alone, I hit her up, I knew I couldn't give her up
I called her to apologize for all the times I wasn't there with her
But her voicemail answered, and my eyes started filling up, I took a deep breath and I spilled my guts, this is what I said:
[Break for voicemail reading]
"And maybe you've fallen down, and maybe you've just took the long way home, but baby you could never love you, like me. And one day this will fade away in the mirror you'll see a smiling face, and standing next to you will always be me, yeah me"
[Verse 3]
Yeah, she didn't answer me, I hoped that she'd be there for me, but never could I've been prepared to see what appeared to me
I released my phone and collapsed upon the floor, as I read Rest in Peace all across her Facebook wall
Then her brother returned her call, his words confirmed it all
So right here is flashes, each tear took its turn to fall
And it's still the worse pain that I've ever felt and worst of all she did it to herself
I hate the fact she just abandoned us, this was not the plan for us
In this life you will lose everything you care to love
I could still feel her touch, leaning towards what we built, which is now deeply crushed underneath this very guilt
I was told eternity looked well upon the right and wrong decisions, the unexamined life is simply not worth living
So knowing that she wasn't there I called her phone again
With a mouth full of pain relief, and this is what I said:
[Break for voicemail reading]
"If I could shrink it down, and put it in your hands, we made it hurt so much. I can't forget the best, just tell me what to say, show me what to do, [The man could forgive me, and I would forgive you?], and Maybe you've fallen down, and maybe you just took the long way home, but baby you will never love you like me. And one day this will fade away, in the mirror you'll see a smiling face, and standing next to you will always be me, you know will always be me, and I will wait, always be me. Till I see your smiling..."
