A lifetime of lessons on a walk through Forbes Avenue
Watch the street signs change, 'Burg green, City Blue
Made it all clear, now I see the established view
The playground before the graveyard
So in the meantime
n***a, play ball
Find your niche
Give your all
Now, with life, there's just so much more
So how?? Thick is your skin and what can your endure?
War? For sure?
Sunny out, made my feet the bus
I'm at the sky, cause I know the world is leaving us
Over the bridge, peep the runners moving on the trails
Through the woods, to the right, are the people that fell
I'm inspired by it all typing on my cell
Keep my wind good
Next day I feel it
Swear it was all worth for the special at the Village
Two slices, Exchange Games, and Coldstone Ice Cream
Music CDs, the insert, subconscious rhyme schemes
And I was young saying words that rung
Just a stones throw away from the n***as wit guns
Had a little gig didn't struggle as much
Rock the same pair for consecutive months
On nature walks with consecutive blunts
This is for real, no way I could stunt
With wordplay I just tell you wa**up
Followed by speech
Wilkinsburg is a very stressful environment
To say the least
On nice days, I used to walk in to Squirrel Hill through Forbes Avenue
And just from my surroundings
I was able to learn a lot about life, and the absence of life
And the things that should be a priority while you're here, breathing air
The playground at Frick Park represented the fun you should have
In the short distance, I was able to see the disparity of wealth
So my walk home represented the walk of the poor
You know?
I get away on Forbes Avenue
I found my way on Forbes Avenue
I get away on Forbes Avenue
