You might be the rationalist
Only capable of receiving or believing if it's in line with human reasoning
You might be the relativist
Who lives with the inconsistency of "What might be true for you, isn't necessarily true for me."
Or maybe you're religious
And believe that you're own self righteous deeds removes any salvific need
Maybe you're the reservationist
Who refuses to believe the truth even though there is eyewitness testimony as proof
Or maybe you're just resentful
And maintain a posture that's outright hostile towards the gospel
But me, I'm a realist
And this is the reality
We, are guilty
All of humanity
That in the court of our creator all creation stands contempt, convicted, and condemned with unclean hands
With the evidence presented against us, every word, every deed, every thought
We're caught, red handed
Every blemish and every spot
But we make light the issue of sin
I mean, we know it exists but
We dismiss it as a simple infraction with a slap on the wrist
Or treat it like a violation of a traffic regulation
But we never see sin as a serious allegation
Never understanding the weight of its impact
Or the fact that it's a clear breach of contract
There's consequences to a broken covenant
Law, judgment, punishment
And the consequences of sin is d**h
And it's what we should rightfully get
Even though we fail to admit the various crimes we commit
But God, met our guilt with His grace
And sent His son as a substitute to serve the sentence in our place
So He, being perfect and pure, took on the penalty and paid the cost
By purchasing our pardon and taking our sin to the cross
And even though we owed it, He received the d**h sentence
So that we might be acquitted by way of acceptance and repentance
And rather than rightfully receiving retribution
We might through Christ receive righteousness, regeneration, redemption, and restitution
And because Christ not only died, but was raised from the grave
We have evidence of a redeemer that is mighty to save
So whether it's reason, religion, reservation or resentment
Cling to the cross with a heart that's broken and repentant
Because on the day of judgment there will be no defense attorney
You will be held accountable, and there will be no hung jury
So pray the Lord count you as righteous
Not because of anything that you've done
Not because of righteousness in your own life
But because of His Son
Because He is the one who by his risen life justifies
So repent, and believe
Because the reality is
Christ is risen
He is risen indeed
