She talks ferociously facing the dying sun
As it settles down the road leads on and on
Some truth, some lies, all her lovers' wives
And how things come undone
The beauty of her lips trembling against the sky
Cut out of shadow framed in the rarest light
I want to believe and if I could I would
Whisper all the secrets of my heart
Love looks gorgeous in the dark
Once she wrote poetry across those fragile wrists
A zig zag lightning bolt illuminates her own darkness
She's singing a song I used to know
The words are lost to me now but that's how it goes
Driving with the windows down steam and burnt tarmac
A wisp of hair break-dances barefoot across her breast
She's right here beside me
Riding with the moon and the stars
Love feels closer in the dark
She turns cartwheels out in the parking lot
And all the busted pieces drop from her pockets
Out on the beach the waves roar before they fall apart
And sink into the sand
There are no voices only the rustle of her dress
And my choices, to keep all of my loneliness
Or follow kiss by kiss
The way so clearly marked
Love seems simple in the dark
