Pebbles and shells, sand between toes
Walking along with salty air up my nose.
A choc` ice melting under the sun
Before I can get it into my tum`.
Laughter around as children play
They will cry if their sandcastle gets washed away.
Granddad in braces, one trouser leg rolled up
While he shakes out sand from a plastic cup.
It looks like mum`s swimsuit is a size eight
So dignity there is all left to fate.
A deckchair is creaking, sunshade hung low
Half naked bodies all are on show.
A young girl changing under a towel
Not worried at all if someone might scowl.
Food being served all through the day
Crunching up sand is the price we all pay.
People are meeting, new friendships are made
All over a gla** of lemonade.
One huge gathering along the coast
With no invitations sent out,
Just the sun as our host.
