I can see just one ring dove
Looking for his own true love,
They`d spent their time on my apple tree
Cuddled together for all to see.
One cold morning (remember this is a sad tale)
His love to a bird of prey fell,
In horror I watched, (this really is true
But I have no aim to upset you) .
Just feathers were left, that sight broke my heart
As those two birds were seldom apart,
My garden now looks heartachingly bare
With only one ring dove flying out there.
I can`t give him comfort or explain any way
Why his partner left him that day,
Many folk say 'don`t worry it`s only a bird'
But in my sad state, those words go unheard.
