When looking at images,
Made by a satellite spectrometer,
Scientists at NASA and the University of Michigan,
Noticed a huge orange and red spot that we must continue to monitor,
Above the intersection of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona,
2,500 square miles wide,
There sits a deadly greenhouse gas far more potent than carbon dioxide,
Methane,
And the concentration is so high,
That researchers could not believe their eyes,
The Dominance of our energy industry,
And the drilling and coal burning has caused numerous leaks, for more than a century,
From wells, pipelines, processing plants, maybe even from the coal beds beneath,
This has contributed to methane levels continuing to reach new peaks,
And cause global warming,
Now, some people blame coal mining, some blame fracking,
But no matter which side you are backing,
This is the real question that we all should be asking,
If we continue the finger pointing and bashing,
And fail to make energy changes and create stronger regulation, what will happen?
