Introduced during New York Fashion Week, the G-Star Eyewear collection is now also available in stores across the globe. G-Star sungla**es are characterized by ‘straight cut lenses', an authentic design element that creates a unique statement in the world of eyewear of today. Following G-Star's denim philosophy, heritage and innovation melt together in G-Star's first eyewear collection. The straight cut concept is inspired by authentic aviator goggles, created over a century ago from your everyday gla**. By reinterpreting these goggles both technically and aesthetically, G-Star transformed authentic functionality into contemporary and distinctive design. The frames of the G-Star Eyewear collection for both men and women are based on cla**ic styles, but are reworked in different colours of premium acetate and steel for a modern feel. The first G-Star Eyewear collection offers a variety of models, including the Metal Snipper, inspired by a cla**ic aviator design, the square shaped Fat Dexter, and the contemporary and round shaped Fat Wilton. Frame colours range from black, grey, Havana and navy to silver, gunmetal and satin with lenses in blue, green and brown.
Especially for the eyewear collection, G-Star collaborated with Dutch designer Bertjan Pot who made the masks for the campaign. Just like G-Star, Pot is fascinated by production processes and material experiments that lead to innovative design. He struck upon the idea for the mask concept during an investigation into the properties of twisted rope. Attempted to make a flat form by joining ropes in a circle, he created instead a 3D shape that fitted the face: a mask. In 2012 Bertjan Pot received the Dutch Design Award for his mask collection. G-Star RAW sungla**es are available at G-Star stores, selected eyewear specialist stores and in the official G-Star online store. For the optical range, visit your eyewear specialist store.
