I've gotten further than expected with this music thing
Used to only rap for my friends, it was amusing scene
My homie, Prophet, taught me a lot about recording
There was something about making a song that was rewarding
And my homie, Frank John, was the first person to shoot me beats
And Infameezy put me on game with the local rapping scene
A couple videos, got a couple followers
I'ma keep on making you bob your head 'til your collar bursts
I probably won't ever see the light with this music thing
And I ain't trying to be that old rapper with an illusion, G
Trying to reach a dream, that in my head plays out beautifully
As time is pa**ing by and I'm missing opportunities
With other sk**s, man, I know I'll get a job
But if this is all I know, I'll be struggling to get by
That's why I got my bachelor's, going for my master's
Cos I ain't trying to be that "almost made it" f**ing rapper
My mother gave up everything for a second chance
Coming to the states, almost lost her life for a little man
Although she knows it, I love her with my soul, kid
That's why I take the second chance, and I ain't gonna blow it
So when you ask me why I lag it, please don't hate me, man
I had to go to school and sh**, I need it as a safety net
Plus, this rap scene is full of f**ing critics
Not so much that I care, I just care about my lyrics
But, sometimes I feel like there's no one out there listening
I feel like they don't understand the dreams that I'm envisioning
It used to bother me, my fans were mostly teenagers
Learned that I could influence the youth, be a dream chaser
A peace maker amongst people in my circles, bro
Trying to set examples, you gotta see pa** the surface, though
Then I thought about it, man, back when I was sixteen
Hip-hop was the only thing that ever seemed to fix me
Back when I was eighteen, hip-hop was the only thing that ever seemed to save me, sh**, I know it's crazy
So, it doesn't bother me no more, I embrace it
I represent all the inner city youth, and all their faces
I represent my people, I represent my community
I love the local scene, but I hat that there ain't no unity
Someone explain to me, why all the hate, G?
We're all pretty much nobodys, fighting for the same thing
We're from the West and we should put it on the map
To let everybody know that the West is where it's at
Come on, I'm gonna do it like this time, y'all, check
Shoutsout to On A High Note. Homie, that's my crew
Fools are done, yellow, black
