Mom and dad could never reason why
I'd leave the poolside finally and good-bye
They can't understand that it was never meant to be
It used to be fun for me
So I went for a swim until the lake just boiled away
They said to go and find out
How the water feels for treading on
The water's gone!
The poolside talk was getting rather old
The wind-chill factor made it freezing cold
The neighbors nosed around
But always short of my arm's reach
I took my car down to the beach
I came back from the seashore less and less
Salt water there tastes just as good as fresh
They'll believe me now I won't miss the chlorine eyes
Or their stupid words too the wise
