SCORE
The Genesis and Greek creation story are both similar and different in how they use literary archetypes.
Both the Greek and the genesis creation utilized the villain archetype. In the Greek story “To avoid this Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born” Greek Creation story. This proves Cronus the villain. He swallowed his children because he was afraid of being overthrown by the future sons. In the Genesis story able was mad and wanted to k** his brother Cain. This makes able the villain. This shows that able was jealous of his brother Cain and k**ed him. This led him to a very dark path. The villain archetype is the person in the story who brings harm among others. Both of these stories contain this archetype.
The Greek and genesis creation stories also contrast, with the Greek one having a father son rivalry and genesis. In the genesis story “Cronus was yet to be defeated. He and the titans, except Prometheus, and some other titans fought to keep their power” Genesis creation story. Cronus is mad with his son Zeus and is ready to go to war against him. This proves this is a father son rivalry. Also in the genesis story “Cain brought offerings to god from the produce of his family farm, and Abel also brought an offering but from the firstborn animals of his herd choice out of meat” Genesis creation story. Cain and Abel are competing to give god the best offering. This gives proof of a sibling rivalry. These two archetype shows the differences these stories have.
