1. A short story mimicking “A Fable With Slips of White Paper”
In a land far, far away, there lived a young eleven-year-old girl whose eyes were so bright they could shatter a gla** window if the sun twinkled off of them just right. The young girl learned how to use her eyes to manipulate whomever she wanted for whatever she wanted. Recently, she had convinced her father to adopt a sweet fluffy puppy from the small town's pet shop on the corner of Penelope Street and Main Street. Although the puppy was the smallest in the entire store, had one ear that flopped over and another that stuck straight up of its head, and also let out the squeakiest bark he had ever heard, the father felt his home would be perfect for the not-so-perfect puppy. He could tell there was something special about this puppy that was different from all the others.
The young girls' bright blue eyes were twinkling brighter than her father had ever seen as she walked Penelope down the cobblestone sidewalk on her new hot pink lease that beautiful Saturday afternoon. She was so proud that as a stranger was approaching from the opposite direction, she stopped him to introduce them to Penelope.
“Look,” the young girl stammered through a bright-eyed grin, “Look at my new puppy. Her name is Penelope and is going to be the best puppy ever for our family.”
“Well, my she sure is the cutest puppy I've seen around this town,” the stranger answered. “Here, take this and enjoy your new puppy with your family,” he continued, as he held out a fifty-dollar bill for the young girl.
She reached for the thin piece of valuable paper as she turned to her father in amusement, still stuck in a bright-eyed grin. Her father appeared to be in shock; his eyes wider than she thought they could even open.
The young girl and her father continued their walk back home with Penelope leading the way. Another stranger approached, the young girl introduced Penelope again, and the stranger offered the young girl and her father money, again.

- “Please, I will do anything you ever ask me and I will be responsible for all of the chores if we can get her,” the young blue-eyed girl begged. “This puppy is special, Daddy. She needs to be my puppy.”
