Luke form Star Wars is a good example for an epic hero, he follows all the steps. An epic hero monomyth is a hero that follows all twelve steps throughout his or her journey or adventure. There are many stories with heroes that have to go through a lot to just complete a mission or save someone. Everyone knows the story of Percy Jackson, a boy who does not know he was the son of Poseidon. This is a good example of a monomyth, throughout the story he has many challenges to face. The epic hero concept is important because Luke form Star Wars and Percy for the Lightning Thief are good role models for people to relate to.
Every hero has an important role to play in their story. For example Luke Skywalker is the hero in Star Wars. In every story a hero has a mission that has to be completed. Luke starts out to live on a farm, he felt like his life was boring. He wondered if he would ever get off of the farm and have an adventure. This is the first step to a monomyth, status quo. The hero is living a normal life but then something comes up. Someone is in danger and someone has to save them. Luke was called to an adventure when he saw princess Leia was in danger. He knew nothing about her, all he knew was that she was captured and needed help.
Percy Jackson follows all the steps that are necessary to fulfill the epic hero monomyth. Percy is like every other kid he went to high school, but he had ADHD. During a field trip he was attacked by what was supposed to be his teacher. Percy got a**istance from someone older and wiser which was his mentor. Percy was in danger so he had to leave the city also leave his mom and enter a whole new world where no human can go. This is the third step in the monomyth. He had to go to camp where he would be safe and where he would be surrounded by others that were just like him. Hades the god of the underworld took Percy's mom thinking that he had Jesus's lightning bolt. Percy had to go save his mom, in order for him to go to the underworld he had to face many obstacles, this falls in the trials step. Percy had to get one of the three marbles that medusa had. Percy is a good example of a hero that goes through the steps of the monomyth.
Percy Jackson is the best role model for an epic hero because he went through a lot in order to go through all the stages. Percy was being defeated by Hades; he was trapped between being feed to the souls and the two beasts that were going at Percy along with his friends and mom. This falls in to step six which is crisis. After defeating Hades, Percy went home with his mom and his friend Annabeth. The only catch was that there were three pearls and four people, but each pearl could transport only one person. Grover had to stay behind but Percy did not want him to, Grover told them to leave before Hades woke up tried to stop them. At the end Percy was worried for his friend and wanted to go back and get him. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a good role model for today because many people can reflect on what he had to do to be safe, save his mom, and leave his friend behind. Unlike the story of Luke, not many people can reflect themselves in is story.
Percy is a good example of an epic hero, because many people today can relate to what he went through. For example, someone can to relate to what happened to his mom. Anybody would do anything to protect their mom, and risk their life for hers. There are twelve steps, Percy follows all of them, he is a normal kid, then he finds out he is son of a God. His life was in danger and he had to find a solution to all of them.
